In short yes attic radiant barrier does work.
Radiant barriers are utilized to reduce summer heat gain in attics.
They don t however reduce heat conduction like thermal insulation materials.
Radiant barriers are installed in homes usually in attics primarily to reduce summer heat gain and reduce cooling costs.
Just like a space suit or thermos bottle the reflective surface inhibits radiant heat transfer.
Now there is a newer better radiant barrier product called srx superreflex.
When the insulation stays cooler your house will too.
